Founded in 1968, the Texas Longhorns Soccer Club is the oldest club in the
southwest. The Longhorns’ philosophy is
to develop individual players within the framework of a team. Soccer in the North Texas area is among the most competitive in the United States, and the club feels
this atmosphere enhances their programs and the players who emerge from them. The Club fields eleven boys and nine
girls teams.
The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club has formed two U19 (‘83) boys teams for the 2000-2001 soccer season. The Longhorns ‘83 Orange, coached by Jimmy Elder,
consists of nine players who were members of the 1999 team representing Region III at National competition and eight additional talented soccer players from the North Texas area. The team will compete in the Classic League Division I for the 2000-2001 soccer season.
The ‘83 Texas Longhorns have competed in Classic Division I, the top competitive league in North Texas, since their inception at under 11. They were the league champions for the fall ‘98 and the Grand Champions for the fall ‘98 and the spring ‘99. The team league record for the past three years is 48-4-9. The Texas Longhorns represented Region III in National competition in ‘99, finishing 3rd in the nation. As the host club for the international Dallas Cup Tournament, the team has competed against top teams from around the world.
The coach of the ‘83 Longhorns Orange
is a native Texan and former Pro-Player, Jimmy Elder. Jimmy has a USSF “A”
certification and is one of Texas’ premier coaches. Jimmy led his previous Longhorns team to the U14 Regional Championship in 1997. He is also the Club’s Director of Coaching - Boys.
